2012 In Review

Well kids, here we are at the beginning of 2013. It is utterly mind bottling how fast time flies, but even more so when you're chasing crazy lunatics around your house. Let's kick off 2013 with a quick look at the awesomeness we created in 2012. It's always a good motivator to see that you did more than just sit on the couch, watching Friends re-runs, eating Cheetos.

Here we go:

In JANUARY, we both started Etsy shops
Lani has LEMON SQUEEZIES:

Super cute, right?! From bow ties to capes, she's got you covered! I don't know about you, but I need a turban headband for the days when my bangs need some taming.

An then there's PAPER MONKEY:

Need a cute paper banner or book page apple to spruce up your decor? Check it out! The paper flower clips are great for a little girl's hair, or your blazer's lapel.

FEBRUARY it was time to get our butts in gear:
Lani started her Master Bedroom makeover with a coat of paint on the walls.

And I did a little refreshing of our Living Room throw pillows by making a few new pillow covers:

MARCH

APRIL
Lani threw Jagger a very colorful birthday party:

And we made Will an Iron Man trike for his birthday:

MAY
I tackled a friend's living room wall with a picture frame collage. I think it's my favorite one I've done.

JUNE
We got painty with a new wall color in the living room:

And Lani got crafty with some adorable teacher's gifts for the end of the school year:

JULY
Lani got down to the nitty gritty and tiled her Master Bathroom floor:
You can check out the process here, here, here, and here.

AUGUST was a big month for us. Lani and I both went back to work full time. Talk about a big adjustment for us and our families and our DIY schedules. HA! But the day before I started my new job, I decided to paint my Master Bathroom:

And Lani's Master Bedroom revamp kept on truckin' with this fab rug upgrade:

SEPTEMBER was a time for more Master Bedroom and Bathroom upgrades. Check out Lani's progress:
A little Martha Stewart Garbadine goes a long way:

OCTOBER was a busy month, and maybe a little too busy because we didn't have much going on over here on the blog-front. We did have our first trip to the ER for a broken finger:
You can definitely count on us to keep it real around here. First trip to the ER, first cavity fillings (yes, PLURAL fillingS), and 1st day at preschool. Talk about a traumatic parenting month...

NOVEMBER
We got a lesson in accessorizing:

I tackled another subway art:

And painted my kitchen...again:

DECEMBER was very merry for us from a Pottery Barn NOEL sign knock-off:

To a super adorable Hot Chocolate Bar:

And we finished up the year with a yarn pom wreath:

You can definitely expect more awesome projects from us! Happy New Year!

Boys bedroom progress

The last I left you all with the progress of the boys sharing a room I left you with this:
DSC_0216
Super exciting, I know.  Well, I’m proud to say that we’ve made a little bit of progress.  Yes, only a little.  Hey, remember that I started working!!  But surprisingly, with less time around the house, more things seem to be getting done because we don’t have “time later” to do it.  It’s actually a bit refreshing!  Anyway, the day before I officially started working, Craig and I knew we had to get some ish done with their room and got right on it.  We moved all of Hunter’s furniture into their room, and all of Jagger’s furniture will become some of my office stuff.  Hunter’s furniture is WAY better quality, and we would rather have the boys try and beat the crud out of the good stuff and have it hold up.

Alright, alright…..do NOT judge the tidiness of this space.  We had just moved everything in there and the boys were taking a bath as I was taking these pics, so it had to be quick.  A few things are changing right off the bat:
  • The light between the beds will be replaced with a table and lamp.  I’ll be honest…any light fixture within reach of the little hands makes me nervous, but they need light!
  • The changing table will move to my new office/sewing room/craft space
  • Decorate, decorate, decorate.  With all the people coming in and out of our house in the first 6 months of Jagger’s life the furthest we got with decorating was paint!  But no more!
I have to say that I am notorious in this house for starting a project and never finishing.  I am terrified of hanging things on walls. I second guess every design decision I ever make, and I consult Heather about 85 times a day.  Although the consulting Heather part will probably never change, I am determined to push past my comfort zone and not just stop because I’m scared of doing something “wrong.”  So moving the furniture was just one little step to really get the ball rolling, but changes will be, and ARE as we speak, happening!!  I’m excited!

Chair is finito and is Muy Bueno

I know, I know….it’s hard to believe that I haven’t taken a Spanish class in my entire life.  It’s almost like I’m fluent.

So I finally finished my chair!  Wee-ho!  It took long enough between trying to tackle 18 other projects at the same time.  I know…I’m insane.  But that’s something that I’ve gotten used to, something that my husband is trying desperately to get used to, and something that I really am trying to fix.  I keep saying one project at a time…but I’m just a filthy liar.  So let’s take a good look at the before again

Soooo….not cute.  But great potential at 1.99 from Goodwill!  What what!  And now the pretty after!!

I am so terribly proud of this little baby that I set her up for multiple photo shoots. Her she is working hard by the front door, welcoming anyone that comes to call..

And here she is gazing out the window…getting ready for spring time fun!

Oh my I love it so much!  Unfortunately…this was painted with the intent to sell.  But I’ll tell you the truth…if it doesn’t I may not be too sad!  If anyone is interested, just email us at diapers.divas@gmail.com.  In the meantime…I will be gazing at her light aqua beauty and be thinking of spring!

A Chair-Y on Top!

Being that I am on the roll of getting things done and getting my creative juices flowing, I decided to tackle a project that has been LONG over due! This chair has been sitting in my garage for months...I mean, before Thanksgiving...and it has been waiting to be transformed.

It's a super sturdy chair that I found for $1.99 at Goodwill.  What's that?  You thought that was a typo?  No.  It was one dollar and ninety nine cents.  Ah-mazing.  My only snafu right now is that Jagger has a double ear infection (as does Heather's little Will) so I am again, on hold with this project.  HOWEVER!  Antibiotics are in full effect now, and it will be finished soon!  I'm excited!

Here's my question for you guys...what color should this baby go?  I'm leaning towards aqua...but I can picture it in a bright teal, a sunny yellow, or a minty green.  Obviously I'm in the mood for warm weather with all those spring colors!  Thoughts?
