Spring Cleaning & Rearranging

It’s just about Spring. Your first clue is the time change. It’s been rough, but the fabulous side effect is that Will sleeps in until at least 7am. Bonus points for sleeping in until 9am yesterday. Talk about a party! Sleep! Glorious Sleep!

My mother in law is in town and staying with us for a few days, so I get to get some Spring cleaning done. Of course, when I really clean, I rearrange, too. I’ve acquired a few new pieces this time around, and made use of some fun crafty things, and revamped an old piece! The new pieces are Goodwill finds from a project I did. Hopefully I’ll get to share that whole dealio with you soon, but in the interim, you can see the cute pieces I got!

I know… same ol’, same ol’. This bookcase is literally the only ledge I have in my house to decorate. So you just get to see it reworked over and over and over. In an attempt to not sound super repetitive, I tried to take pics of some new angles. Here I am standing on our balcony… Why did I only think to do this now? Duh!

A little bit closer… And there’s Captain America photo-bombing my shoot. I’m sure there were bag guys that needed to be taken down. Droids? Red Skull? Monsters? It’s hard to keep up with the Bad Guy Du Jour in our house. The third shelf got a little less toy-y since we added storage to Will’s room, and I picked up a couple of boxes of my sister & I’s old books. We are really into books right now, and it was fun to bring back some of my old favorites. Amazing that I still know all the words to One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Black fish, Blue fish, Old fish, New fish.

I guess we’ll start from the top. Not too much is different, except my old school taper candleholder. I found these at Goodwill and I think they’re so cool! I think they were $3 for the pair.

Shelf two has some fun friends.

I made some paper apples. You can expect a little craft tutorial coming soon!

The second shelf ledge is always my favorite. This rearrangement is no exception. I sprayed my old metal, kind of bronze, kind of black, leaf tray.

Use These
Love the pop of blue on the tray. It ties in my quatrefoil pillow nicely. I have teals and blues and greens in my pillows, so I figured I needed some blue on the mantle somewhere. Ta-Da! And I added some gold to the stem of the tray because I’m fancy like that. Add another paper apple (I made 7 of them… so… they’re getting used somehow!), and my new favorite quilted milk glass and call it a day!

Not too shabby! I love a free spray painting project. It also cures my painting itch… Just trying to figure out when we can paint the living room a lovely Martha Stewart Bay Leaf. Talk about a Spring Revamp! Painting the living room! Woohoo!
