Or earmuffs, headscarf, stuff to keep you warm. And possibly cover your dirty hair if it’s just that kind of day! Since we are together here in the Jersey that is New, this challenge was fantastic for us because we got to do it together…in the same room! Wahoo! Inspired not only by Pinterest but also by the cold weather, we decided to make cute little headbands to keep our ears nice and toasty! Plus, they are going to be super cute to wear for holiday time, and would make really fantastic gifts!
Here’s a couple of our inspiration pics from Pinterest. There are so many different versions to choose from on Pinterest. But of course we wanted to make it our own!
We picked up these knit headbands at the dollar bin at Joann’s. We always recommend rooting around in those things. Some of the best stuff we’ve found has been from dollar bins. And these babies were actually pretty good quality too!
This is us…sporting our knit headbands while they were still so plain. Obviously you can see that we are extremely upset at the plain-ness of them! Wop wop…babies are in bed…time to jazz these sad little things up!
Heather started cutting out some white felt circles…
And was being weird while watching New Girl – our new favorite show. It’s Jess! no… It’s Heather!
After cutting some circles, large, medium, and small, and then rooting around in Lani’s button stash, this came about. Heather debated on adding a second flower, and then Lani said “Maybe you should stitch something instead…” Ok! A couple of gold stitch leaves added a lovely finishing touch!
Here’s her close-up. Lovely! Grey, white, and a little yellow will pretty much go with any outfit and is one of our favorite color combos… so… it was an easy choice.
Lani got her flower inspiration from a little BHG special Christmas edition mag:
Bam! These flowers look oh-so-cute on a stocking, imagine how cute they’ll look on her head!
The Daddy, Mommy, and Baby flowers are all cut…
Lani’s awesome touch of some teal stitching on the outside for a little color contrast is superb. Cute as a button. Oh, and those buttons are pretty cute, too!
The close-up. Of course teal is always at the top of our favorite colors list. Roll in some white and grey and we’re in heaven. This is also nice and neutral to go with just about any ol’ outfit. When we want to get real fancy, they’ll spruce up our comfy chunky sweats, too! We’re so chic.
Yay! We’re so happy & warm! Not bad for a little craft while we chatted and watched a little TV. Keeping it real with the bags under our eyes, too. It’s the sacrifices we make to stay sane. We finished this lovely little craft before Heather was done restocking Lani’s chicken stock she used up for some delish chicken & dumplings earlier this week. That’s how fast this crafty craft was to make! And only cost $1!
Once again, Pinterest proved itself to be awesome! Thanks to YHL & BowerPower for the shove to once again, do something with all those pins we’ve been pinning! (Here’s a look at our first Pinterest Challenge).
Wow, you are so clever! Those headbands look fabulous. I hope we get that Christmas issue of BHG over here in Australia. It looks great!
