Felt Tree Ornament

Thanksgiving is officially over, so it’s time to bust out the tinsel & the hot glue gun & put together some hot Christmas mess!

Here’s a little something I whipped up while catching up on my DVR’d shows. I saw something similar at Target and had my usual “I can make that, pfft” reaction. Well, I can! And I did!

Here’s what you’ll need:

- Stiff felt in various holiday colors. I picked Green, Dark Green, Brown, White, and Red.
- Wooden beads. I got a bag of all the same size and a bag of various sizes. Whatever you can find will work. 
- Twine or a thicker-than-thread cord
- Gold Thread & a sewing needle
- Scissors
- Of course, the remote if you craft & watch TV, like me.
Cut out some circles. I just eyeballed my circles. No templates, nothing fancy.

Green – 2 1/2”
Dark Green – 2 1/4”
Brown – 1 7/8”
White – 1 1/4”
Red – 1”
Green – 3/4”

Cut a small slit in the middle of each circle so you can feed the cord through. Just fold the circle in half & make a little snip.

From there, it’s pretty easy…
- Tie off the bottom of the cord with a bead.
- Feed the largest circle on the cord. I used 2 of each circle to make my tree a little chunkier. Just work your way up largest to smallest, & alternate circles & beads.
- Put one bead on top of the red circle topper.
- Then bust out the gold thread & your needle to stitch a quick little _*-type star on top. I put one small green circle on each side of the cord & stitched through both circles so it also held itself on the cord. No glue needed, just sneaky sewing skills!
- Put one last bead on top.
- Tie off the cord & tie a loop for tree hanging!

In about 2 hours, I had my own little flock of tree ornaments.
Overall, each ornament costs well under $1 to make. It’s probably less than $0.50 since you are using a tiny corner of each large felt square. The beads were $3 per bag. The large roll of twine cord was $1.99. Throw a few Joann’s coupons in there and you’ve got an inexpensive craft that will be cute on your own tree, or attached to your pretty little wrapped gifts!
