Drink up!

I don’t know about your all….but I THRIVE on the constant hustle and bustle of the holidays.  Some people may not like the pressure of the parties and the food and the decorating…but it’s like my crack.  Heck…amidst all this…I even started getting up at 5 am to start training for a marathon!  I KNOW!  I’M CRAZY!

So, being that I am a crazy nutjob during the day, and I’m loving unwinding with a nice glass of wine at night, I decided to holiday-cheer-up my little wine station.  This is for myself and for everyone who comes to my home to enjoy!  This is the first thing that I’ve really decorated in the house and it totally got me going!  Yeah! It’s like my foreplay to the holidays.  HA!  Anyway, I’ve been wanting to go for a multicolored, bright color scheme for years…and I finally get to!  This set-up will probably change a tad, as I need to throw in some lime greens and reds, but realize that the colors I lack in my collection…are green and red.  Crazy right?  I guess I get caught up in doing cool color combos that I never bothered to stock up on the classics!! But I’m a color fanatic, and what I love about the holidays is almost any color can be worked as a holiday scheme.

The tray and glasses (and wine of course) were already stationed here.  I got this little dresser for $20 on Craigslist and wanted to use it in my dining room.  It still needs a good paint job, but I have so many other projects in the pipeline that it’s probably going to get pushed back to spring. The snowflakes on the wine bottles are from Target that are $1 (they have them every year) and I usually get them on clearance for maximum .50 cents after the season’s over.  You can use them EVERYWHERE.  And I snatch up as many whites as I can, and last year I snagged a bunch of blue and silver after the season was over.  They add such great sparkle!

This cloche I also got at Target after the holiday about 3 or 4 years ago.  The collection it was apart of was kind of what got me started on this multi-colored scheme I want.  The reds, teals, greens, whites, and sparkle sets of such a great vintage vibe.  I’m giddy with it.  Giddy I tell you!!

Being that you always have to have a little candy dish out for the season…here’s mine!  It’s delicious to look at…not so much to eat.  Bad for your teeth. Just a bunch of baubles on a homemade cake stand…what could be sweeter….and easier?  Post on the DIY cake stand to come!

And of course, I had to create a little reminder of what this little station is all about…being merry!  Oh yeah…and having a drink or two!  I just free-handed the letters from scrap felt from another project (oh yeah…I’m all KINDS of crafty up in heeah!) and glued the tops to some jute twine.  Then I just anchored the twine under the candles...which, btw, were also holiday clearance.  Woot woot!

And then last but not least, my spray painted old frame, a few flakes hung from the top (just taped the string to the back of the frame, and a few more sprinkles of ornaments for some shine!

I just love it!  I am actually waiting until next week to head to Target to get a few red and green bits and baubles, but I am LOVING the way this is getting our house ready for Christmas!  Makes me want a glass of wine right now!  oh…it’s only 7:45 in the morning…well only 10 more hours until happy hour!  HAHAHAHA….seriously…
