Spring Flowers

On a whim, I decided to make a little flower pin to jazz up my bland black boyfriend blazer. Scissors, hot glue, some fun paper, a little fabric, and a metal hair clip later, this beauty emerged.

And then a few more...

And a few more...

The best part is that they're practically free! Just use scraps of paper you have! Just draw a snail-like swirl on the paper and cut along your lines. It doesn't have to be perfect. In fact, the more irregular the swirl, the more realistic your flower will look. The larger your swirl, the larger your flower will be.

Once your swirl is cut out, you'll have a springy looking swirl of paper. Starting from the outside, just roll it up. You don't need to glue the flower together, but I like to so that it stays extra secure. When you get to the end, that little circle of paper that was in the center of your swirl is just the right size for a dollop of hot glue and then carefully hold your rolled up flower on top for a few seconds while the glue dries. You'll end up with a beauty like this:

You can get crazy! Glue them onto plain headbands for a little girly touch to your outfit. Glue them onto some manzanita branches for a touch of whimsy to your spring centerpiece. Or make them for all your best gals!

Happy Spring!
