Breakfast Scones

Is there nothing better than a hot cup of coffee and a fresh baked scone?  Well the answer is no…no there is not.  Fresh out of the oven they are crumbly, airy, and have just the right about of crust on the outside.  Sprinkled with a little turbinado sugar before baking creates a lovely sweet top, and they are oh so good with your choice of topping (mine happened to be homemade apple butter…yuuuuummmmm). After making these easy scones I really don’t think I will ever go back to buying them ever again.  Including the cinnamon chip or pumpkin ones at Starbucks.  I will just adapt these accordingly.  I doubled the recipe and froze half of them to pop in the toaster oven anytime for that perfect treat on a cold day.
