Happy Birthday!

Yes, I'm back and have a ton of fun posts in store for the week. However, I wanted to start the week off with a special Birthday shout out to my mom. Today is her birthday!

Mom - I'm sure you should stop reading this now since you're at work and will start boobin' for sure. Stop and read this when you get home. I warned you...

I knew, a long time ago, that being a mom was hard work. You just don't get all of the things your parents, but especially your mom, go through for your sake, until you become a parent. From your body, to your mentality, to patience and lack there of, to financial hardship, all to give you - her child - a better life. They provide the best that they can in the circumstances they are given, and then bust their butts for more. It's a tough job!

I have told you before, Internet, that I was kind of a second mom to my little sister when she was born. I was 8 years old, after all, and thought I could conquer the world. Handling a kid 8 years my minor was a piece of cake. Little did I know that was barely a glimpse into the real life of mommyhood.

My mom is by no means the most patient person, or has the most money, or can cook the best gourmet meals, but she was the best role model of a mom I could ask for. She's tough when she needed (and needs) to be, despite how I felt about it. She made sure I had everything I needed and most of what I wanted. She taught me to work hard for what I wanted, no matter how far off my goals seemed to be, and was my biggest cheerleader. And she can make a mean bowl of Kraft Mac 'n Cheese!

I knew I wanted to be a mom and that it would be the most important job I could ever have, thanks to my mom. 16 months into mommyhood, and I get it. I'm sorry for all of the tantrums I threw, from 2 years to 18 years old, and am grateful for all of the awesome memories and experiences I've had thanks to my parents. I can only hope to do the same for Will and his future sibling(s).

So, I guess what I'm trying to say is...

Happy Birthday, Mom!
Thanks.
I love you.
