Friday Fave: Swim Lessons!

As I sit deciding what I want my Friday Fave to be, a list of not so favorite things is running through my head... Such as:
- The skunk that sprayed somewhere outside our open bedroom window last night as we were crawling into bed.
- Will waking up at 3:30 and 4am the passed two nights for no reason other than to sit and watch TV for an hour and then go back to bed...
- My neighbor and their dog that they neglect so it barks incessantly...ALL DAY LONG!

I could go on and on... but here is a favorite to brighten your Friday! Swimming lessons for your little one (or not so little one)! Yesterday was our last class of the first session of swim lessons. This first session has been great because it's Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for 2 weeks. Each class is only 25 minutes, but that is the perfect amount of time for little ones. It's just enough time to learn a new skill, practice it, and sing our good-bye song. The favorite part is what happens after swim class... NAP TIME!

25 minutes of kicking his feet, practicing "big arms", fetching little squirting toys using both his arms & legs to get it, and dipping his face in the water when he's trying to blow bubbles is tiring. When we're done, I put him in the back of the car while I strip him down & change his clothes. We eat some lunch and he is OUT. Yesterday, he slept from about 1:45pm until 5:45pm!!! A FOUR hour nap! Oh, thank you Baby Jesus! I cannot begin to tell you what a relief it was to work on a ton of stuff that's been lingering on my list causing me major stress & anxiety since we're leaving for Jersey in 4 days... Oh, so glorious!

We are skipping the next session of classes, sadly, since we are going to be out of town for a week, but we start right back up when we get back and will be going twice a week until the first week of September. My only hope is that it's a tad warmer than it was this week. June gloom has hung around this week and it's a class full of shivery kids and parents when it's barely 70 degrees outside and the sun isn't shining.

If you're in the Orange County, CA area, Just Spotted has a great list of swimming lessons you can check out here.

Will takes his classes at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center through the City of Irvine. Even if you don't live in Irvine, you can still register for their community classes. They're inexpensive and so far both Will and I really enjoy them.
