We met in 2003 while working at The Great Indoors together in Irvine, CA. It was kinda crazy how fast we became friends, but we have so much in common that it would almost be crazy for us not to! We both went to school for design and were (and still are!) highly passionate about it. We frequented Disneyland for fun, were in each others' weddings, and cried our eyes out when Lani moved to the East Coast. Our love of design, Disney, and now motherhood, have truly strengthened our bond. This blog was started to make sure that we were always keeping up with each others' kids and family. It turned into a great way to share recipes, home improvements, and random thoughts. We are passionate about everything we do, and hope that you also enjoy our musings on love, life, design, and banana bread (it's truly nature's miracle!).

A little about
I'm an interior designer turned unexpected Stay-At-Home-Mom. The transition has been the hardest one of my life, to say the least, but I wouldn't trade it for the world! Becoming a SAHM meant I had to teach myself to cook more than the Kraft Mac 'N Cheese and hot dog soup (yes it's a real thing & it's delicious!). Try doing that when you've got a newborn, I dare you. Hubby was the chef in our house. Admittedly, I was spoiled. But I asked for a bunch of cookbooks & stole my dad's Everyday with Rachael Ray mags to learn real quick. Now I love it. And I'm great at it! I still leave the grillin' to Hubby though. I'm still a designer at heart, so I started my own custom invitation company (Paper Monkey) and continue to do design via DIY projects around the house and maybe an invasion or two at my parents' house.
When I'm not cooking, crafting, or DIYing, I'm hanging out with my Hubby & our crazy awesome son, Will. Hubby is the love of my life. We met at The Great Indoors, too. It was quite the happening place! We had an instant connection & I knew right away that we would get married. A proposal in Rome, a wedding under the trees, buying a new condo, and a baby later, here we are. One happy little family. They are my boys, the loves of my life, and I love every minute with them. Being a mom is the toughest & greatest job in the world. I'm happy to share it and everything that goes with it, with you!

A little about
The only other thing I love to do besides playing with my babies and lovin' my husband is to make my house a home! Sonny (my one and only true love) bought this house brand spankin' new before I moved to the east coast, and as much as I love builder grade standard stuff, it's just doesn't say "home" to me (really...it's almost as bad as just having a 50 year old home that you have to upgrade). So I enjoy hitting the thrift stores, the list that is Craig's, and the curbside pickup to make this a beautiful home for my family on the cheap. I also looooove to find a good deal and pinching a penny to make our money go as far as it can go. It's kind of a sickness that I treat my weekly coupons the same as I do my Martha mag.....both are like gold to me! Throw a little of a love of cooking, crafting, a cocktail or two, and scripted TV (I'm just not a reality girl...with exceptions to American Idol) into the mix and you've pretty much got a well rounded Lani!! Decorating, creating and being a mom is my life....and I'm so glad I get to share it all with you!
